Walking with Christ is not always easy. It’s a decision, a discipline that requires practice, determination, and a shift in mindset. I remind myself of this as hardships and challenges arise, both unexpectedly and expectedly.
I accepted Christ at a young age and understood its meaning. I attended church because I loved it, but also because it was a responsibility. Fast forward to now: as a mother of three, I never imagined one of my children would have autism, ADHD, and a language disorder. Nor did I expect another child to be diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a rare condition in children, or to need an ear tube procedure as a baby. As a wife, I didn’t foresee the challenges of adjusting to marriage, even years in.
Through life experiences, I’ve come to realize that they are not only meant to strengthen me and my family but also to be shared with others. As a psychotherapist and owner of a private practice, I understand more than ever that we must depend on God and nurture our relationship with Him to endure the chaos of this world. We cannot afford to be disconnected from Him, no matter how flawed we are or unpredictable life may be. It is crucial that our children are provided with the same foundation I had as a child.
I invite you to join us on this journey—a journey of imperfection, seeking God’s own heart. We embrace authenticity, flaws, and accountability, holding one another up as a true village after God’s own heart. We are one. We are His People!
